Retouching

We will be remembered by our photographs.

Do you have a photograph of yourself that you really like but maybe isn’t quite as flattering as you would like? My goal in retouching is to create a photograph that presents the subject at their best but doesn’t look retouched.

This is the original photo of Jessica. She wasn’t wearing makeup and has some sun damage that detracts from her appearance.

This is a gentle retouch. The freckles and wrinkles and sun damage have been softened but the freckles and wrinkles are still visible. She still looks like herself.

This retouch goes a bit further than I like but still avoids the white, pastey look of some portraits.

This is a photo of me taken by my friend, Nick. I wanted a picture for OKCupid. Something that looked like me, only better.

This was what I ended up with…softened the wrinkles…darkened the white hair a bit and whitened the teeth just a bit and removed the hand.
